A survival knife is what can be used in emergency situations and that can come handy to undertake many tasks. In short, a survival knife is one which has multiple functions and can be used for many purposes.

The blade:

It has a sharp blade, and has a drop point which is referred to its curving spine that reaches till the tip. Such a design is ideal for survival situations because the tip is stronger and is sharp enough. The blade is made from very strong stainless steel and thus is tough as well.

The Edge:

The Gerber Bear Grylls Ultimate PRO survival knife comes with a fine edge and contains no serrations at all. A knife with serrations may help to cut things but may not be good enough as a survival knife. Such a knife won’t be suitable for skinning or fine slicing. And also, if the serrations get damaged, it will not be easy to repair it.

The blade length:

The Gerber Bear Grylls survival knife comes with a full tang, which means the length of the blade starts from the tip to the other end. Such a knife means it is also stronger and durable.

An attached whistle:

As a mark of a product that understands the real meaning of survival, the Gerber Bear Grylls ultimate PRO survival knife comes with an attached whistle. It has a loud noise and can come handy when you need to scream for help.

The Handle:

The handle is quite strong and gives a good grip.

The sheath:

It comes with a good sheath design that locks the knife within it when not in use. The sheath has raised bumps, two on each side, and it aligns well with lashing holes in such a way that the bumps are locked in the holes, which means the knife remains fastened to the sheath. It also has a hole at the bottom so that if the knife is wet, the water will drain off.

The knife sharpener:

It also has a sharpener with a carbide blade and which is easy to use. It can be used by anyone in fact. It is a pull-through one and effectively sharpens the knife.

An added advantage:

One of the added benefits in the Gerber Bear Grylls ultimate PRO survival knife is that it has a ferro rod on the sheath and is stored well on the upper side to prevent it from falling down. It could be used to start a fire as and when need be. It is a good quality rod and that means you will not have to struggle with it to start a fire.

Overall, it is an improved and better version than the original.   A con is that it is on expensive side. But to look at it that it is really a good kind of survival blade and comes with so many added advantages such as fire starter, a good cover, and good quality blade and so on, the price can be overlooked. It also has a survival guide which gives important and necessary instructions and explains in an easy to understand manner.
